Mar de Frades, a term from Galego, the language of Galicia, meaning
“Sea of Friars”, is also the name given to a place near the Ría de Arosa, in the mouth of the River Umia, where in times gone by pilgrims would land to continue their journey to Santiago de Compostela.
Finca Valinas
A paradigm par excellence of the Galicia landscape, the Finca Valiñas vineyard stands on terraces on the southern face of the Valiñas mountain with breathtaking views over the Ría and the Salnés Valley.
The Albariño grapevines are staked high to enable them to receive those Atlantic aromas direct from the sea.
DISCOVERY
The winery
The Mar de Frades building rises up in the midst of the Finca Valiñas vineyard on a hillside, at the heart of the Salnés Valley. With its svelte grey granite and copper figure weathered by the elements in this Galician climate.
